To change the mindset of a nation

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

I’ve been reading the Amazing Grace biography on Wilberforce. It has inspired me that nation changing is possible. Wilberforce had two goals to reform the nations manners and to see the abolition of the slave trade. He achieved them both. Many people have dreams but few achieve them. I think what was distinct about Wilberforce was that he saw many things that needed changing but he sought out the Lord’s will for his life and the nation. He had always felt a compassion for the slave trade but it was God that called him, if he’d just thought it up himself he never would have acheived it.

I’ve been challenged to seek out the will of God for my life and also what he wants to do in the nation.

Wake up call

Im still asking God to teach me to pray. Our prayers are soo important to God. What i pray for, how i come and how i pray. I just dont want to get in the way.

I believe the Conference was a big turning point in my life and and in the life of others. Gods word says he desires truth on the inward parts and i feel God is showing me walls that need to come down.

We read in Job 12 v 22   “He uncovers deep things out of darkness and brings the shadows of death to light.”

And as God leads me through He’s filling those empty places with his words.

Psalm 119 v 130 “The entrance of your words give life”

I just want to give God the control buttons and let Him press rewind and pause as he pleases. And one day, I believe, he’ll press fast forward.

The Obvious Secret

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Job was a man with incredible favour on his life, loved by the people, held in honour by the elders, looked up to by the young, because he was a father to the fatherless, took up the case of the stranger, was generous to the poor, and stood up for those who could not stand up for themselves. He was more than just a good man, and as a consequence he became an influencer, leader, father, king, chief to the people, serving them with justice and righteousness. The secret to his success as a man is found in Job 29v4. Its a concept that is so often talked about that it has become too obvious and as a result hidden.

First Fire School Blog of 2007

What a privilege to pray and be with the Lord for this amount of time.  To have the input and coaching is invaluable.  I feel as I’m praying like a modern day monk in a modern day monastery, (which in some cases during the medieval period were powerhouses for the spread of the gospel).  I’m praying and believing for the power of God to be released through the transforming gospel message, that God would be honoured by all in this nation.

Rhema Word for FireSchool

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

‘Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings.  He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.  I vouch for him that he is working hard for you and for those at Laodicea and Hierapolis.’

This is my Rhema word.  I was amazed to read that wrestling in prayer is regarded as hard work by Paul.  My purpose on FireSchool is to wrestle in prayer.
