Gods has layed on my heart throu this week the need to be open to the cry that its not all about me but to be in that right place with God so he can use me when he so pleases our God is a God of times and seasons and when he says go we go when he says speak we speak we stand in readyness at all times 1 chron 12 v 32

To seek Gods purposes, not my own.

 Acts 2:1-41

God has been challenging me with this scripture, generally up till this point i’ve thought that when God changes things in me and when I see him doing things around me, that it is just for me, that has been the end purpose in my view.  But God has been challenging me on this point and causing a shift in my heart in relation to this.

in verses 1-4 God radically changed the lives of the disciples forever, they would never be the same from this point on, this is sometimes the point that i get to, but this is so often where i stop.  Verses 5-41 however go on to say what happened when the disciples didnt just stop contented in their encounter with the holy spirit but they went out onto the street with it, thats when the real power was shown.

What God has been showing me is that it isn’t all about me, when he changes something or does something in my life, more often than not it is for me but ultimately for his glory.  The challenge is to not stop short and go home when i see a change, but to press in to find the full purpose of god and to seek him to change things in me so that i can be used by him to affect the world around me.  If the disciples had stopped in the upper room then 3000 people wouldnt have found Jesus as their saviour, but because they didn’t the kingdom of god was greatly extended that day.  So this is the challenge to my heart, to seek Gods purposes an not just my own.

Forget persuasion, relying on God’s power!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

In 1 Corinthians 2 v 4 & 5 Paul writes “my message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.” I don’t know about you, but I know I’m guilty of relying on persuasion rather than God’s power to save people. And, I wonder why I see such poor results!! Could this be linked? Yes!!

Jesus instructed the disciples in Acts to wait for the gift promised by the Father. This promise was of course the power of the Holy Spirit. They could not fulfill the Great Commision without it. When the disciples were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit people noticed. So much so, that God was able to convict and save 3,000 that day. How much more do we need Power from on High?

A Deeper Work

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

I am so thankful to God that I can look to Him to put all the wrong within me right. Even though it can be painful at times, I want to get to that place and love God in a deeper way. To just push through in God and come away from that place that I have been resting in.

It is time to move on. Life in God is a journey and God is watching me every step of the way and He wants to remove all the stones so He can do a deeper work.

Matthew ch 13 v 5 speaks about stony places with not much earth, the seed grew quickly but there was no depth for the word to take root.

Thank God for that deeper work
